FAQs

Why do I need a new mattress?

A new mattress is needed because when you sleep
on an old mattress you miss out on the good sleep
and support your mind and body needs to wake
refreshed in the morning.

What Should I Look for When Shopping for a Mattress?

Comfort
Every person’s body is different, so you should try several
different mattresses to determine which is the right one. Give
yourself at least 10 minutes in the position you sleep in to
determine if you are comfortable and not experiencing pressure
points. Lie down on several different mattresses and determine
which ones feel the most comfortable.

Support
The mattress should support your body by holding your spine in
alignment. At any comfort level, whether firm, cushion firm, plush
or pillow top, the top of the mattress should cradle your body and
the upward support from the coil system should be strong enough
to support your body correctly.

Size
Select a mattress that gives you room to turn, move, and stretch.
If you are sleeping with a partner, it is especially important. Often
the size of your room will dictate your mattress selection. If you
are sleeping with a partner, the queen or king size is
recommended as long as your room is spacious enough.

Cost
Mattress sets can range from $300 to $7,000. A good quality,
queen-size mattress set will usually retail for $1,000-$2,000.
Everyone has a set budget, so it is essential to purchase the best
quality mattress you can afford. A quality mattress will provide
years of restful nights, so it is necessary to make this purchase an
investment in your well-being!

How Long Does a Mattress Last?

While it’s not an exact science, it’s recommended that you change
your mattress every 7 to 10 years. By this point, your mattress is
probably not giving you the support or comfort that you need to
get a good night’s sleep.
Considering the amount of dead skin cells and sweat you’re
shedding into your mattress each night, there’s a good chance
that an army of dust mites and bacteria have crept their way into
your bed over this period of time, too.
Depending on your particular mattress, use, and body type, it’s
possible that you’ll need a new mattress before the 7-year mark is
up. If you’re not getting quality sleep, it’s not worth waiting it out.

Longevity

Traditional Innerspring:  7-8 years

The metal wire core of these beds tend to sag and lose shape over time, even with proper care.

Gel Foam: 8-10 years

Generally, foam mattresses are better at holding their shape. With gentle use and proper care, they can last up to 10 years.

What is your best mattress for those with back pain?

Back problems may result because of different reasons. It is safest to follow your doctor’s advice. Our advice is choosing a AERO GEL foam bed like the CASHMAN or Lua brands. Gel has been used for mattresses for a number of benefits. Gel gives cooling, AKA thermo-regulation, heat can be drawn away from the body; helps keep the body cool. Gel will also help the mattress provide a more plush feeling. It helps in balancing body support, especially if you are a side sleeper because it lessens the pressure on the shoulders, hips, knees and ankles.

What Do I Look For in a Mattress If I Am Larger??

Proper bedding is essential for larger individuals. You need to
look for a mattress that is both comfortable and has strong
upward support. If you are purchasing a coil system bed, you
want to make sure you select a mattress with the strongest gauge
coil system available. There is a difference between firm support
and a firm feel. Your selection should have firm support but a
comfortable feel. Aero Gel beds offer excellent support and
pressure relief, which can help prevent bedsores, aches, and
pains in shoulders, hips, and sensitive areas in the back. You may
also want to consider an adjustable base, which gives you the
ability to elevate your head and knees to ease lower back pain.
